Success and Joy

The busyness of the 4th term is still fresh in our minds and there are many wonderful moments to share. The Graduation ceremony was extremely well attended by parents, and friends of Children of Light Educare (COLT). It was refreshing to see that there were more fathers than usual in the audience, celebrating with their children and taking lots of photographs. The spiral walk is a very beautiful part of the ceremony and very moving for those seeing it for the first time. Each child carries a lit candle into the spiral and places it down along the spiral walk. At the end of the ceremony the graduates who are leaving COLT return to the spiral to extinguish their candles, symbolic of completing one phase of their education and preparing to move on to the next phase.

The concert was a real delight with all the children participating in the action songs and performing with confidence on the stage in front of their parents – some even had lines to deliver! Squirrels with their bushy tails had everyone gasping at how high they could jump, while the butterflies floated effortlessly across the stage with glossy wings. Bees were buzzing and the gnomes marched along in their boots. It was hats off to the teachers and children for such a polished performance!

A week later our children gathered for the COLT end of year party. All past learners are invited to the end of year party, together with their siblings. Some of our past learners are progressing to Grade 4 in primary school next year and this is the time when they share their reports, school photos and ‘big school’ news with us. We are so proud of all them for keeping up with their studies and for wanting to be at the COLT end of year party again. This year we catered for a hundred children – the children received a Santa shoebox, a decorated jar filled with sweet treats, teddy bears, and a freshly prepared lunch and juice.

We are ever mindful that without our donors we would not have been able to provide our children with such a joyful celebration. Our heartfelt gratitude to our many donors who have continued to support our organisation over the past 6 years.
