Last week ended with some devastating news, as one of our student’s home burnt down, resulting in the loss of all their belongings. After putting out an urgent appeal, we were deeply moved by the incredible support from our community. The staff at COLT, alongside the family, would like to sincerely thank everyone who reached out, donated and offered help during this difficult time. Your kindness and generosity have truly made a difference.
Witnessing such generosity reminded us of the heart of Children of Light and the values that guide our work. With our school van currently undergoing repairs, the staff at COLT were also able to spend time together in reflection, exploring what it truly means to be part of Children of Light and the lasting impressions we leave on the children in our care. We took part in creative activities that encouraged us to step into the children’s world through storytelling, painting, and sensory experiences.
These past few weeks have served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of compassion and creating safe spaces where children feel supported, seen, and encouraged to grow. We are deeply grateful to be part of a community that continues to embody these values and walk alongside us in supporting the children and families of COLT.
