This year we are very excited to be hosting a new graduate, Imaan Kemp from Chrysalis Academy.
Her 3-month training with 22 Charlie at the Academy included child care and this term she started her one year internship at COLT. Imaan describes her time at Chrysalis Academy as “amazing!” and says that the intensive life skills and leadership development programme at the academy has given her self-confidence an enormous boost. The Outdoor Phase of her 3-month training included a 24 hour solo process which for her was a deeply spiritual experience.
At COLT she divides her time between the 2 classes, assisting with the 3 – 4 year olds in the Sunflower class, and the 4 – 6 year olds in the pre-Grade R, Grade R class. Imaan has quickly settled into the COLT daily program and she says that she literally begins each day with a huge smile on her face! Helping the children with their workbook activities and crafts is especially rewarding for her. Imaan has applied to the College of Cape Town to study for her National Certificate – Educare Diploma, while gaining valuable practical experience at COLT.
