Crossing a new threshold

Today COLT children were very excited to be back for the start of the 3rd term. Danny our driver dropped them off in front of the Educare and they were welcomed by their teachers at COLT’s new front entrance. While the Educare was closed for the winter holidays building renovations, funded by the Amrut Foundation were completed by Sibanda Construction. Upgrades were necessary to comply with the fire and safety regulations required for our registration with the Department of Social Development.

In the Grade R class an aluminium window and door have been installed in place of the garage door. This allows more natural light into the classroom and will greatly improve ventilation, especially during the heat in summer. Also, the new entry door provides easier access into the Educare. Other new fixtures include a kitchen unit, and a dividing door between the girls and boys toilet cubicles.

The next phase of the renovation project is to replace the vibracrete boundary walls of the Grade R classroom. Plans have been approved for building up the boundary walls and we aim to have the job completed at the end of the term when the Educare is on spring break in September.

We seek your assistance in raising R55 000 for this phase of the renovations. Know that your donation will help give our children a better chance in life. If you are able to help us in any way with funding this phase of our building project please email Priya at contact@colt.org.za
