COLT warmly welcomes Wendy Witten

At the end of 2024 Children of Light Educare (COLT) posted an advert for a Fundraising and Marketing Officer, a new salaried position. We received many applications and after two weeks of interviews it was decided that Wendy had the experience and creativity that our organisation needs right now to thrive, and continue with its amazing work.

Wendy has embraced her training, and skilling-up in areas that are new to her. She is truly inspired by the ‘COLT story’ and enjoys the Educare’s busy, vibrant atmosphere.

Speaking to her recently she shared a bit more about her herself and had this to say: “I worked in the corporate sector for 23 years. In 2024 I was retrenched and I took that as the perfect opportunity to pursue my passion which was to be creative on a full time basis. Whilst being permanently employed and having years of experience in painting and mosaics I took the time to learn more mediums of art; I learnt ceramics and attended weekly workshops over a 5 year period where I learnt a new skill of creating pieces with clay, besides the basic skills.

It was by chance that someone had sent me the advertised post last year and for some reason I decided to apply. From the moment that I applied for this post it has proven to be a very positive and uplifting experience, from the very first day that I entered the gates of Children of Light Educare. I look forward to my new journey with COLT and being able to give back to the community and be amongst these little ones. I can still pursue my creative plans and can already see that this environment will only inspire me to take my creative skills to new heights.”

A favourite quote of Wendy’s is by Pablo Picasso: “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”
