Following a successful pilot project in partnership with Village Tods, and research conducted on the pilot programme by the University of Western Cape between 2014-2016 informing its establishment, the Educare started with its first class in 2017.

The aim is to conduct a small, intimate programme that will make meaningful and long-term changes to each individual. This will undoubtedly create a ripple effect, benefiting society at large. This will be implemented by starting with the following classes over the first three years:

Year 1:       Grade 0: 10 children : 4 years to 5 years old

Year 2:       Grade 00: 3 years to 4 years old and Grade 0

Year 3:       Grade 00 x 2 classes, Grade 0 x 2 classes

For year one in 2017, based on the availability of resources, we have identified 6 children from the Vygieskraal Community to start the Grade 0 class. This has been done in full consultation and agreement with the community, their respective parents or caregivers and the Department of Social Development.
