In February this year we proudly launched our pilot Youth Program for past COLT learners who are now in mainstream education. There are twelve children between the ages of 10 and 14 years who meet at Ananda Kutir Ashram each month for yoga, life skill activities, singing and free time for socialising. Teachers and volunteers are on hand to engage with any of the children who may need coaching, or who just need someone to talk to.
This month they had a sleepover at the Educare. They were so excited to walk around the familiar classrooms and look at the pictures of when they were at COLT, and so much younger!
Youth Camp
In June, ten of the children together with teachers and volunteers will be travelling to Sarva Dharma Ashram in Welbedacht, Chatsworth Sarva Dharma Ashram – Learn, Live & Grow for a five night stay. To break the trip they will spend 2 nights at the Poplar Grove Stoep Zen Buddhist Retreat in Colesberg, Northern Cape.
The group will be travelling in the Educare bus. Estimated costs for transport are:
Pre trip vehicle service = R 5 000
Fuel = R 8 000
Trailer rental = R 3 000
Driver stipend = R 4 500
Total = R 20 500
